This is the most progressive, freedom-loving and, at the same time, relaxing place in the city. Completely different people from different countries live here, local free-thinking residents and many young people. Here you can observe mosques, churches, libraries and bars, clubs and gardens, the promenade, which is great for walking and jogging.
So let's start our tour with breakfast. Traditionally, Turkish breakfasts are large, occupy the entire table and take place within 1-2 hours, without haste. For this meal, we will go to the My Chef cafe. The only cafe of its kind in Istanbul, it is located in the very center of the district, next to the old cinema. Here you can choose traditional cuisine, Italian, Mexican or vegetarian dishes. They cook delicious food here and the check for food is usually less than in places of interest. There is one interesting dish - soup. You can order tomato or mushroom puree soup. It will be brought to you in a pot of bread!
After a hearty breakfast, let's go to see the main local street - Moda, along which the famous tram rides. Going down this street, we will see a statue of a bull - a frequent meeting place for local residents. Marches and rallies take place on this square. In Kadikoy, people freely express their opinions, which is rare in other parts of Istanbul. However, here all the protests, marches, are usually accompanied by a large number of police, so everything is pretty safe. The walk can take about an hour or more, because along the way we will definitely go to themed shops, take a lot of photos of beautiful, historical buildings. After it, you can take a couple of local buns (simit) and go to the embankment. It offers an exceptionally beautiful view of the Sea of ​​Marmara, ships and ferries passing by, the Princes' Islands and the European part of the city. There you can sit down and have a picnic, enjoying the weather, as most of the locals do.
This relaxing tour will allow you to see the city from the point of view of those who have lived in it for a long time, you will feel like a part of Istanbul, not a passing tourist.
