I offer you to start your trip to Armenia with a fascinating sightseeing tour of Yerevan, the heart of Armenia. You will find interesting stories about the thousand-year history of the capital, along with a tour of architectural monuments (such as the Opera House, the Cascade Complex, the National Assembly Building, the Republic Square, the Museum and the Erebuni Fortress), as well as the vintage central streets of the city (such as Abovyan St., Mashtots avenue, Baghramyan avenue, Northern avenue). And from the height of the observation deck, the whole city will open to your eyes!
Mashtots Avenue with the famous “Covered Market” and “Blue Mosque”, Marshal Baghramyan Avenue with the Presidential Residence and the beautiful Parliament Building, Sayat-Nova Avenue with a monument to the famous French sculptor Rodin, and much more.
After a circular view of the city, we will have a walk around the small center. It will begin with the Yerevan Cascade — an open-air museum, which is one of the unique components of the Cafesjian Art Center. The museum's collection includes works by world famous artists such as Fernando Botero, Arshile Gorky, Jennifer Bartlett, Lynn Chadwick, Barry Flanagan and others. Here, of course, we will rise to the observation deck, from where a fantastic view of the pink city opens, and of course, if you are lucky, you will see a majestic view of Bibey Ararat. You can climb both on escalators and on foot, well, this is of course for our most athletic travelers.
After taking the most charming photos, and getting acquainted with the stories and stories about why Yerevan is considered a pink city, how the Cascade was built and why the most delicious coffee is drunk in the open cafes of the Cascade, we will continue our walk to Theater Square, where the Opera and Ballet Theater is located and the famous Swan Lake, next to which Arno Babajanyan, beloved by all of us, proudly “plays” on the piano.
Continuing our walk, we will find ourselves on Northern Avenue, with impressive new buildings located on it, where there are many offices, luxury residential buildings, restaurants, cafes and shops. It is here that you can find a monument to the famous florist Karabala, who always gave flowers to lovers.
The final point of our walking tour is Republic Square. This is the central square of the Armenian capital, designed by A. Tamanyan in the middle of the 20th century. Its architectural appearance is formed by five buildings located along the perimeter. Among them is the History Museum of Armenia with a worthy collection of paintings by famous artists. The building of the Government of Armenia, with the famous clock, under which Yerevan residents always make their first love dates. In the center of the Square are the famous singing fountains, whose shows can be enjoyed from mid-April to the end of October.
The sightseeing tour of Yerevan will end with a visit to Tsitsernakaberd — a memorial dedicated to the numerous victims of the genocide of the Armenian nation in 1915. The memorial was built on the hill of the same name in the 1960s on the initiative of the local authorities. In 1995 the complex acquired an underground museum. Its exhibits tell about the terrible tragedy of the Armenian people, who had to endure simply inhuman suffering during the persecution organized by the Ottoman Empire.
