Along the Great Silk Road

Many people think that the Silk Road was one specific route, however, in fact, there were many routes that connected East with West, and ran mainly by land, and sometimes by sea. These paths connected East and West, South and North. Preference was given to those that passed through the valleys of rivers and lakes.

NORATUS
We will visit Noratus. It is located in the Gegharkunik region. In the 16th century, Noratus was the residence of Armenian meliks (princes). The village has the largest cemetery of khachkars in the world. This is a unique phenomenon of Armenian culture.

HAYRAVANK
From the walls of the monastery, you can enjoy picturesque panoramic views that set you up for peace and tranquility. Hayravank is known not only for its interesting architecture, but also for its curious legends, which over hundreds of centuries have overgrown the history of the monastery.

CARAVANSARAI ORBELYAN
The Selim caravanserai is one of the many surviving caravanserais in Armenia, which provided accommodation for caravans loaded with goods on their way through Armenia to Europe and the East. From the Caravanserai, on the way to Noravank, a panoramic view of the Selim Pass opens, along which we will head to Noravank.

NORAVANK
Noravank monastery complex is the pearl of Armenian religious architecture. Two magnificent churches and a chapel, many stone steles with the image of a cross and amazing views of the picturesque area are the distinguishing features of Noravank.
