What will you see?
1. Gur-Emir Mausoleum
The tomb of Tamerlane is the eternal resting place of one of the greatest conquerors
of the Middle Ages. You will also learn about the fates of his sons Miranshah and Shahrukh and
the legendary grandson Ulugbek.
2. Registan Square
The heart of Samarkand, surrounded by magnificent madrassas. We will tell you why the square
is called "sandy", despite the lack of sand.
3. Bibi-Khanym Mosque
The 15th-century cathedral mosque is a monument to Tamerlane's grandiose plan. You will hear
a romantic legend about the architect's love for the wife of the great conqueror, who played
an important role in the construction of the mosque.
4. Shahi-Zinda Necropolis
An architectural ensemble where representatives of the noble families of the Karakhanid and
Timurids are buried. We will explain why the place is called the "city of the dead", although its name
translates as "living king".
5. Ulugbek Observatory
The greatest scientific center of its time, built by Ulugbek — a ruler,
astronomer and educator. You will learn about his contribution to science and history.
