Samarkand is one of the oldest cities in the world with a 2750-year history, the same age as Rome, Athens, and Babylon. Samarkand is a bridge connecting the past, present and future. I will show you the main attractions of Samarkand, in addition, you will have the opportunity to get acquainted with the traditions, customs and life of the local population. I will try to help you get to know Samarkand better.

The program of the sightseeing tour:

The Gur-Emir Mausoleum is the burial place of Tamerlan and his descendants. You will hear facts and legends related to it;

Registan Square is the “calling card” of the city. I will tell you about the magnificent mosques and madrassas located on it;

Bibikhanum Cathedral Mosque — you will admire its sky-blue dome and arch the size of the Milky Way;

Khazret-Khizr Mosque is a religious building on the southern tip of Afrasiab. The name of the Islamic temple is associated with the name of the prophet Khizr, the patron saint of travelers and the owner of “living water”;

The Shahi Zinda Memorial Complex is one of the mysterious architectural monuments: it is believed that this is where the grave of Kusama ibn Abbas, a companion of the Prophet Muhammad himself, is located;

Ulugbek Observatory — I’ll tell you about the life and scientific methods of the great scientist, mathematician and astronomer Mirzo Ulugbek.

The Afrosiab Museum is a visual depiction of the life and history of ancient Samarkand. The museum is located in the northern part of the city, not far from the ancient settlement of Afrosiab. The museum is a unique archaeological monument, a so-called “piggy bank” of the cultural life of the people.

You can also additionally include in the program a visit to the Khujum factory (manufacturing silk carpets by hand using ancient technology) and the Konigil factory (recreated production of high-quality paper using ancient methods).
