Offroad safari - Rybachiy peninsula and Musta Tunturi ridge

You will explore the Northernmost outposts of the European part of Russia. You will experience the Arctic day (June — July) with the Midnight Sun floating in the chilly sky just above the waters of the Arctic Ocean.
Day 1
We will start from Murmansk early in the morning and drive about 100 km toward the Russian — Norwegian border. On the way we will stop at a WWII German fortified area. We will see the caves carved in the mountain, the trenches, the wire fences, still sharp! The northern nature is slow in covering the scars of war.
After a short stop for coffee and pastry in Titovka we will turn from the highway to join a very rough road, originally made by monks back in XVI century and later shaped by German military in the 40s. We will climb the Musta Tuntury ridge, first by car and a little later on foot. The ridge was a battle field for 3 years in a row during the WWII. It is full of artefacts: trenches, caves, wires, bullets... The barren rocks are burned black. It is hard to imagine that the war was 70+ years ago. It looks like it was yesterday.
We will continue driving around the Sredniy peninsula. It is a beautiful place. The Barents Sea on the left hand, wild tundra on the right hand. Rocks, canyons, waterfalls! Norwegian shores are visible in good weather. We will have lunch in a beautiful place with the sea scenery. Dinner will be late, on a shore of a rapid creek, running into the sea. This used to be a Finnish settlement. But now the place looks and feels absolutely wild. We will talk around the fire about the history of the place, why people chose to move here and how they survived in this harsh climate, why they abandoned this place and after all why it is so desolate now.
We will spend the night in tents.

Day 2.
We will continue driving rough roads of the Peninsulas. Soon after we start we will get to the Rybachiy peninsula, the bigger brother of Sredniy. This is the day when we reach our main destination — cape Nemetskiy, the Northernmost tip of the European part of Russia. We continue to its neighbour — cape Kekurskiy — a conglomeration of black gloomy perilous looking rocks, sharp as knives. In this welcoming place we will have lunch. Our second night we will spend by a river, flowing right into the Arctic Ocean, on the coast of it.

Day 3.
We will cross the Rybachiy Peninsula by inner roads. If we are lucky we can see the rein deer. The herds of them are migrating from East to West of the peninsula.
We will be back in Murmansk by 8PM.
